Alan WilsonAlan commenced his golf life as a junior at the Virginia GC in Brisbane under the guidance of John Klatt, developing his skills with fellow juniors Greg Norman and Wayne Grady, and attended Nudgee College. As a junior, he worked as a caddie, carried out club repairs and acted as a general coaching assistant. For further experience, Alan caddied on the US PGA Tour in 1979.

In 1981, Alan won both the Queensland Amateur and Queensland Match Play Championships, and through the Players’ School turned professional in that year. Prior to this, Alan developed extensive business skills through his own business franchise and as assistant manager at a Brisbane hotel at the age of 18. He represented Queensland as No 1 in the State Team in 1981, and completed his PGA traineeship at Ashgrove GC and Robina Woods GC, as well as attending Japanese language classes at TAFE from 1986. He was chairperson of the Queensland PGA Trainee Committee in charge of Pro-Ams and eliciting sponsorships. He supported the Robina Woods’ golf course design and development, process and establishment of the pro-shop.

During 1989-90, Alan assisted Griffith University in setting up the golf techniques program and coached in this program. In 1992, he decided to establish the Australasian Golf Academy to provide a more comprehensive golfing experience for international and domestic students, and wrote the golf coaching program Excel Golf leading to AGA becoming a Registered Training Organisation in November 1994. This program was delivered at Robina Woods GC, Paradise Springs GC, and Palm Meadows GC Since 1995, AGA has worked with Bond University in its delivery of the Graduate Diploma in Sports Management & Sports Coaching. From 1997, the AGA diversified its customer group to include students from Europe as well as Asia. In 2001, the AGA moved to the Royal Pines Resort.

Design Team

Our designer team have worked as design draftsman on many large residential projects, some which included golf courses were amongst the first developments of their type in Australia.

Our focus is firmly concentrated on golf design. Our golf design skills were honed during the creation of  highly acclaimed courses such as Sky 72 Golf Course in Incheon, Korea. 

Ou team provide  minimal fuss or fanfare provided a first class golf design service to clients and clubs direct and also in association with other architects, consultants, builders and golf professionals.
